Gather ‘round, friends, and let us share with you a brambly tale of butterflies with wings on fire and getting lost and found in the heart of Berlin. The prodigal band DOMINIQUE has at last returned—I am back and I have changed... will it be enough? — with ten track album—Camping in the Wilderness. After years on separate paths, the band reformed to create something that feels like a musical homecoming. Camping in the Wilderness was recorded completely live in the cozy embrace of PARKA Sound Studios, Kreuzberg-Berlin under the guidance of producer and sound engineer Berend Intelmann. DOMINIQUE features Anna Stark (cello, vocals), Benjamin Wagner Clark Clark (drums, backing vocals, acoustic guitar), Dominic Eichler (vocals, keyboards) and new to the lineup Philipp Neumann (bass guitar, vocals, e-guitar). Music, lyrics and arrangements by Dominique. Mastering by Mike Grinser, Manmade Mastering, Berlin. All Publishing and Copyright Benjamin Wagner Clark © 2025. All rights reserved. Copyright control. Oh... we were dreamin’ high on a cloud …

A tribute to the power of collaboration and the sound of a band working as a greater whole, Camping in the Wilderness blends intricate pop and Progrock riffs with folk, jazz, and even a touch of disco magic. Lyrically, their music is a conversation, a reckoning, and a return to oneself, a quest for acceptance, forgiveness, and the joy of reconnecting—themes wrapped in haunting, beautiful melodies and arrangements that have grown organically out of intense group work. This is the lush, honest sound of an underground cult band who has rediscovered the essence of what made them—minimal, raw, and real—but with time and experience woven through every beat, chord change and high note.

Fly butterfly... here comes the man with the net...

DOMINIQUE’s story all started back in 1999, in a shared flat in Berlin, with a 1973 Rhodes Mk II piano and a four-track cassette recorder. Dominic Eichler, with his heart full of out-queer lyrics and sonic melancholy, began crafting a sound that would soon take shape as DOMINIQUE. In 2002, the band released Speak to Me, an album that found its place in the hearts of many as a cultish underground classic – illegally shared on torrents and copied cds and even often unauthorised remixed many times over. Over the next years, the band grew and changed lineup. But next to founder Eichler, for most of the time Anna Stark (cello, vocals), Ben Clark (drums), and Paul ‘Richard’ Davis (bass, vocals), were crucial to the band’s recorded sound. Between 1999 and 2008 DOMINIQUE played showcase gigs at Volksbühne Berlin, supported Tocotronic, and releasing three loved LPS including The Same You (2004), and More Love Now (Dial/Kompakt, 2008). A public hiatus followed but in private a stock taking and experimentation was taking place. In 2018, the trio of DavisEichler, and Stark made a limited edition vinyl The Basis of All Life (2018) under the pseudonym Carbon Goblet.

Against a star filled night...

Twas during the pandemic that the spark for a true future band reunion was lit. For Eichler and Stark, visceral live performance was the goal—no longer just an introverted home studio project, but something to be shared collectively with a live crowd once more. The lineup grew to include the wonderful Philipp Neumann (bass, vocals), and the pieces fell into place. The band started to play again. And in 2023, DJ Stephan Karkowsky played us often on his RADIOEINS show Late Night Lounge announced on the airwaves: DOMINIQUE if you are still out there... make another record...

It’s time to taste forbidden fruit picked from the vine of wasted youth...

Finally in February 2025, after a year of development and rehearsals, the reformed band went into the studio with Intelmann, to embrace the art of old-school live recording. Inspired by the approach of his friend legendary producer Moses Schneider, Intelmann encouraged DOMINIQUE to achieve new musical heights and togetherness. The result is an album that’s full of warmth, intimacy, and that elusive connection only found when musicians play together in the same room. As Schneider says, “When you record a band like this, you can hear the friendship.”

DOMINIQUE

feat. Anna Stark, Ben Clark,

Dominic Eichler, and Phillip Neumann

Dominique the band began life in 1999 on a whim with a borrowed 1973 Rhodes piano and a four-track tape recorder. Since then, our recordings mostly featured Dominic Eichler (keyboards, spoken word, music, lyrics and production), Anna Stark (cello), Paul Davis (aka Richard Davis, bass, vocals, synths, music, lyrics and production) and Benjamin Wagner Clark (drums). Over the years we also worked with many other wonderful artists and musicians — full track and videography credits can be seen via the links below. Our special thanks go to sound engineer on our indie-cult debut album ’Speak to Me’ (2002) Thomas Goldhahn, artists and founding members Dave Allen (guitar) and Antje Majewski (cello), as well as Michael Lapuks (guitar), Ninon Liotet (French vocals) and videographer Luke Bennett. In 2018, Davis, Eichler and Stark also released a limited edition vinyl ‘The Basis of All Life’ as the side project CARBON GOBLET. In 2023, singer and bassist Philipp Neumann joined the permanent Dominique lineup. On 20 September 2025 Dominique will release CAMPING IN THE WILDERNESS.
